How to use Lavender
You can diffuse, directly inhale, apply topically or use for flavouring
10 ways I love to use Lavender essential oil.
I diffuse Lavender each night from about 6pm to help unwind and calm the kids before bed. Either on its own or in a blend with other calming oils like Peace and Calming, Cedarwood or Roman Chamomile. Diffusing also helps to unwind a frazzled mummy at the end of the day. And the house smell beautiful.
2 Roller Bottle
Roller bottles are great as you can use them around the house or take them with you. I have many roller bottles around the house. My son loves the one I have in his room which is just lavender mixed with V6 carrier oil (you can use any carrier oil such as Fractional Coconut Oil or Sweet Almond Oil). My son actually asks for this each night and we apply it as we are tucking him into bed. I apply it on the kids wrists, flex points on the feet and temples. I also have fun with the kids and roll it down their spin and around their belly buttons.
3 Relaxing Bath
A few drops in the bath for a relaxing soak. Or mix it with Epsom Salts for a spa like feel. Another way to make the bath a blissful place is with Bath bombs. They are really easy to make and the kids love them. So does mummy when I find time for a bath.
4 Monster spray
Do you have kids that refuse to go to sleep because there are monsters in their room. I have made up a spray bottle with approx. 10 drops of Lavender and water and the kids spray their rooms to ward off those nasty monsters.
5 Linen Spray
Pretty much the same as the monster spray, but I spray on linen, in the linen closet and under beds for a fresh aroma.
6 Laundry Powder
I make my own laundry powder and I add Lavender to it. Makes the clothes smell fresh and I am not using synthetic fragrance products in the wash.
7 In the first aid kit
Lavender is fantastic for soothing the skin and used for owies and boo boos for the kids. I use it in a blend with Tea Tree oil and Frankincense and roll on kids scraps and bumps.
8 Eliminate odours
There are many essential oils that can be used to eliminate odors. I love placing a cotton ball with a few drops of Lavender at the bottom of the garbage bin. Whenever the bin is open a light Lavender scent can be smelt rather than other smelly things that are in the bin.
9 Carpet Freshener
I use this a mix of Lavender and bi-carb soda to freshen the carpets. Add 10 drops with a cup of bi-carb soda (baking soda) and sprinkle on the carpet for a chemical free deodoriser.
And my favourite
Add Lavender to a carrier oil like V6 or coconut oil and get your partner to give you a foot rub or an all over relaxation massage. Just before bed is a perfect time for this as you will be relaxed and soothed and ready to drift off for a peaceful night.
There are many many many more ways to use Lavender. These are the ways that I use Lavender around my house.
